Ash (not normally a Christmas celebrator)
Kieran: a new pair of leather pants, spicy rice balls, and a rather sappy little poem written entirely in iavaian.
Violet: a handwritten basic magic primer and a little clockwork sculpture thingie. it doesn't do anything but move around in interesting ways.
Robin: an exhaustively annotated file of Francescu's information about the barrier and a plate of whatever cookies Ash has figured out he likes best.
Harper: a small amulet charm attached to a note that says 'may help reduce restlessness'.
Pell:

Layla
Warren: a winter-weight leather jacket she found in the clothes closet. it's a bit worn in the elbows etc but still wearable.

Puppy-chan: a coffee cup and saucer in fine china
My Student (Domyoji): his violin has been polished and restrung and the bow has been rehaired,
Taiga: a recording of Otoya and Wataru playing violin (both together and separately), with the note "Mamako-chan can learn to appreciate the music his mother loved." [note that Otoya's recordings are all people's 'songs'--Yuri's, Maya's, Otoya's, Wataru's, and, last on the recording, Taiga's own]

Rui
Tsukasa: the complete works of Shel Silverstein.
Makino: a matching glove, scarf, and hat set, in white cashmere.

So. Much of Rui's role in HYD is stalker. He always seems to know what's up with Domyoji, and especially with Makino. Whenever Makino is in trouble, needs advice, has to be saved from something, needs a ride, whatever, Rui is there. It's epic shoujo timing. He has a Makino stalker ping at least as good as Domyoji's, and possibly better. I cannot explain how much of a stalker he is without spoilers, but man, he's a stalker.

What this means for you: if Makino is ever in trouble/really angry/very sad/whatever, Rui will probably show up. If Domyoji is ever in trouble/making a lot of trouble, Rui will probably show up. If Domyoji does something to someone Rui doesn't approve of, he will probably conveniently be there to save them from it. His methods are usually non-violent, which might not work on everyone in camp, but hey.

tl;dr Rui is a stalker and keeps pretty great tabs on Makino and Domyoji. This means he probably knows a lot about what's going on with them even if he wasn't there for it, and will intervene/interrupt conflicts. If you ever need a Rui intervention, please ping me in chan! Alternately, if Rui is going to ever show up as a stalker, I will attempt to do the same for you!

Name: Hanazawa Rui
Age: 19
Height: 184cm
Hair: bleachy blond-red-brown
Eyes: brown

Physical description:
Rui is pretty. Tall, fit, perpetually well-dressed, he is every inch the socialite. He tends to wear white, cream, and grey more than anything else. He's often carrying or reading a book, and he tends to look perpetually bored or disaffected.

Medical notes:
nothing! As far as I know, Rui is a perfectly healthy, normal human boy. If he's ever been sick, he's had excellent medical care.

Abilities: Is an excellent stalker. No, really. He can usually manage Domyoji pretty well, which counts as an ability, I think. Plays the violin and reads a lot, and has many other rich person skills, like participating in formal tea ceremony, playing musical instruments, and formal etiquette. Other than that, he's really, really wealthy. In other words, he's just a normal human.

Notes for the psychics: Rui is probably quiet both inside and out. He only cares deeply for a few people, and for them he will go to the ends of the earth. He totally loves Tsukasa and has been rescuing him from himself since they were wee children, and he's in love with Makino. What he feels, he feels very deeply, and is more observant about what's going on around him than one would expect, but most things bore or don't interest him. Given some of the things we see him reading, he's probably rather intelligent.

Fighting:
Unless you're one of F4 or threaten Makino, he won't, and he's more likely to stand by and watch F4 beat each other up than participate. Again, normal human being. He can take a hit or three from another human, but nothing special.

Can I spit at/step on/bodyswitch/etc:
For the most part, Rui is uninterested in your silly fighting. If you hit his buttons, he might yell back. It can take a whole lot to get him to react at all. Bodyswitching would be hilarious good times, ping me about it!

Hurt/maim/kill:
please ask first before performing any violence against Rui. Unless you're Tsukasa, it's really not what he's for, and I'm not going to be trying to put him into situations where it's likely. Killing is a definite no.

Cooking: lolol rich boy. I doubt it.

Character: Hanazawa Rui
Series: Hana Yori Dango (JDrama)
Character Age: 19

Canon: In the prestigious and exclusive Eitoku Gakuen, the students don't just have to be concerned about making good marks and impressing their teachers. There's also the Flower 4, or F4, to worry about. F4 are the undisputed leaders of the school, four boys from some of Japan's most powerful families. Students who cross F4 are given the 'red notice', a sign hung in their locker that marks them as a pariah, to be tormented and mocked until withdrawing from Eitoku becomes the only solution. Hana Yori Dango is the story of Makino Tsukushi, a commoner who refuses to back down under the pressure of the red notice and instead declares war on F4. Her defiance shocks and intrigues the boys, who take an interest in Makino and eventually befriend her.

Hanazawa Rui is the quietest, most mysterious member of F4. Not terribly interested in the antics perpetuated by their leader, Domyoji Tsukasa, Rui prefers to spend most of his free time reading in quiet stairwells or abandoned classrooms. More an observer than an actor, Rui doesn't miss much, but he doesn't often share his observations with his friends. Though he appears distant and cold, Rui cares deeply about his friends and will go to great (some would even say extreme) lengths to do what he believes is good for them. Whether it's brooding quietly in the background, punching Domyoji in the face until he sees sense or stalking keeping an eye on Makino, Rui is always trying to make sure things work out for the best. As the arguably sanest member of F4, Domyoji's best friend and Makino's closest confidant, sometimes this can be quite a job.

Domyoji and Makino are mentioned with permission from the players.

Sample: Tsukasa, I'm surprised. Usually when you tell people to go to hell it doesn't work. If you wanted help coming up with some other way to impress Makino, you could have just asked. Kidnapping really wasn't necessary. Your bodyguards don't need to be so fashion forward. Isn't it a bit hot for purple fur? I would have come to help you without the escort. Or the change of clothes. "Rui, I've ordered your new resort apparel to be delivered with it's monogram, C.F.U.D. That stands for Domyoji Understands Foolish Commoners, since I know you couldn't figure it out on your own." Well, he's right about that. He should have called and let us know he was up to another crazy scheme to win Makino's heart.

This haunted camp isn't going to impress Makino. She may be a tough weed, but that doesn't mean she should be wallowing through the mud. Even commoners have a sense of smell. Are flying puppies even frightening to anyone besides Tsukasa? Those birds eyeing me are a bit odd, but they look like they ought to be on cereal boxes. And zombies asking for brains? How boring and typical. Their costumes are very realistic, though. The body parts strewn around must have been made from real meat to squish like that. But the soup is really over the top. Look at this ingredients list. Weiner-snatch-el, Get-a-Head stock, Carrot Top and lady fingers? What a terrible blend of flavors. I thought Tsukasa had better taste than this, at least in his mouth. The whole thing is giving me a headache.

Even a haunted swamp must have someplace quiet to sit. I suppose I should be grateful that some of the toucans are on key, but Pachabel's Canon in D? Should not involve any literal artillery. I just need somewhere quiet to sit down and figure out how to fix this mess. Maybe that glow over there is a proper building, where I could sit down and...no, it's a glowing lake. But at least it's quiet. Fixing Tsukasa's latest mistake is going to take all my best efforts. I'll need to call in a clean-up crew, some set designers, one of the family chefs...

Oh, geez. A giant squid? This is ridiculous. Combining high school girls and tentacles is frightening, but not in the good way. If he thinks he can indecently expose customers to this monstrosity--oh. Its name is Marcy? Don't cry. Who would have thought a monster would be so sensitive. Take my handkerchief and dry your eyes. Eye. Maybe a blanket would have been more effective.

...no, why don't you just keep it. Consider it a token of your affliction.
